Meet Our Team

Delaina White

founder

This mission started in 2012 with one dog, Athena, one bag of food, and a $100 donation — and a whole lot of heart. In 2011, I was gifted my first pit bull, Nikko, and everything changed. Loving him opened my eyes to just how misunderstood, overlooked, and desperately in need pit bulls are. What began as a simple act of love quickly became deeply personal.

This rescue journey has brought sleepless nights, countless tears, hard lessons, unforgettable triumphs, and more emotion than I ever imagined — and every single bit has been worth it. It started as my dream and my mission alone, but along the way I was blessed beyond measure with a team of fierce, compassionate women who love these dogs just as deeply as I do. Because of their dedication, strength, and unwavering support, we have grown and blossomed ferociously over the past few years.

For more than 13 years, I’ve had the privilege of doing what I love most: saving pit bulls and advocating for the dogs who need it most. My prayer is to be able to put in another 13 years — and then some — because this work, these dogs, and this mission will always have my whole heart.

Vilida

Intake Coordinator

I first started volunteering with a pit bull rescue back in 2009 because of my love for this misunderstood breed. My first real connection to pitties came through my two grandpups, Brooklyn and Louie. Let me tell you—those two were my world. They knew me as “Granny,” and I would FaceTime with them all the time. They completely stole my heart. I had always had dogs, but never pit bulls, and they opened my eyes to how special the breed truly is.

Whenever I would take them out in public and see the way people reacted to them, it made me so upset. I knew these sweet, loving dogs, and it hurt to see them judged so unfairly.

In 2017, I moved to Phoenix and stepped away from rescue work to care for my mom full time as she battled Alzheimer’s. When she passed in 2022, I felt completely lost. I knew I needed something to keep me busy and give me purpose again.

That’s when I met Delaina and took in my first foster. I was hooked immediately. Her passion for the breed filled my heart, and I knew I wanted to be part of her mission. Since then, I’ve learned, educated, rescued, trained, and loved so many pit bulls—and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Being part of this rescue has given me purpose, healing, and a family of incredible dogs and people along the way. 💕🐶

Amy

Administrative Coordinator

Hi, I’m Amy! I’m one of the people behind the scenes answering messages on our Facebook pages. When you’re interested in adopting one of our beautiful babies, I’m the one who sends the application and helps guide you toward the perfect new family member. I love being part of those happy “forever home” moments.

To be honest, I didn’t always feel this way about pit bulls. Like many people, I grew up hearing that they were aggressive dogs. That’s what I saw on TV and what people around me said, so I believed it. Everything changed when I met my friend Vilida’s pit bull. She was just like any other dog—sweet, calm, and loving. Nothing like the scary image I had in my head.

Vilida told me about the rescue she volunteers for, and after getting to know her and the dogs, I decided to volunteer too. I’ve now been with the rescue for almost two years, and I’ve learned something important: it’s not the breed that’s aggressive—it’s the way humans treat them. Many of these dogs come from terrible situations, and they’ve suffered more than most people realize.

I’ve never really considered myself a “dog person.” I actually have three cats of my own—Nevaeh, Taco, and Ka$h. But every time one of our rescue dogs meets me, they climb into my lap or cover me in kisses. It’s impossible not to fall in love with them, and I wouldn’t trade those moments for anything.

When I found out we had to go on intake freeze because of a lack of funding, it really hurt. It’s heartbreaking to read messages from people begging for help and knowing we can’t step in. I truly wish I were a millionaire so money would never be the reason a dog couldn’t be saved.

If you’re able, please consider helping in any way you can. Every bit of support makes a difference for these dogs who deserve a second chance. 🐾💖

Raedon & Hunter

Events Coordinator

I began volunteering for the rescue because growing up, my family always had a pittie in the home. I saw how people perceived pit bulls, and it never matched what I experienced. My dogs were always sweet, loving, and gentle, and I wanted to be part of an organization that worked to change people’s attitudes toward these incredible companions. I also knew there were so many pit bulls sitting in shelters, just waiting for someone to give them a chance.

Because of my college dorm living situation, I wasn’t able to adopt or foster a dog of my own. So instead, I took on a role that helps dogs in need find homes with other families. Even though I couldn’t bring one home myself, I could still be part of their journey to a better life.

Hunter also grew up with dogs, though he never had a pit bull before. When we first started dating, he quickly became attached to my rescue pittie, Lulu. She was the perfect adventure partner—always ready for hikes, road trips, and exploring new places. We spent countless hours in the car together, just chasing the next fun outing with her.

Through Lulu, Hunter fell in love with the breed just like I did. Before long, he decided to start volunteering with me at Crazy Pit Bull Lady Pit Bull Rescue, and now we’re both proud to be part of a mission that gives these amazing dogs the second chances they deserve. 💕🐶

I’ve always been an animal lover, and have gotten my pets from rescues. Shortly after the world went into lockdown from COVID, I lost one of my dogs, Daisy, a tiny 9lb maltese who died suddenly and unexpectedly. A few months later, I also lost my American Bulldog, Mabel. My house was far too quiet and empty, missing the pitter-patter of little paws. I needed some new energy in my house to make it feel like a home again, but I wasn’t in a situation where adopting was an option at the time. Here’s where I found Crazy Pit Bull Lady. The rescue had just taken in a dog who had lived her entire life in a cage, abused and neglected, and the rescue was reaching out for a foster. I thought this would be the perfect arrangement. I could give a safe space to someone in need, and fill the emptiness in my home. I had no idea this experience would be so rewarding. Once she found her human soulmate, I found myself taking in a succession of fosters, each with big personalities and unlimited love to give.

Becoming a part of this rescue has truly been one of the most fulfilling experiences I’ve ever had. Nothing compares to helping these dogs find their forever homes, and the joy it brings to both the dogs and their humans.

Jenn

Volunteer

I officially joined the rescue in June of 2025, but truthfully, I’ve felt connected since the beginning of the year. I was working alongside Delaina at another job, and I had the privilege of hearing firsthand what it takes to keep this rescue going — the long nights, the tough decisions, the victories, and the heartbreaks. Watching that dedication inspired me deeply.

I joined because I wanted to do something meaningful. Pit bulls are one of the most misunderstood breeds, yet they are some of the most loving, loyal, and cuddly dogs you’ll ever meet. Their capacity for forgiveness and affection amazes me every single day.

I truly believe that if we can change the life of one dog, we can change the world — one heart at a time. Being part of this mission isn’t just volunteering for me… it’s purpose
