Olive

Meet Olive – A Brave Soul Looking for Her Safe Place

Olive is starting to come out of her shell. Just recently, she showed a glimpse of playfulness—running around outside, even playfully jumping toward someone she’s learning to trust. It was a beautiful moment of progress for a dog who’s clearly endured far too much.

She is still very scared. Sudden noises and movements can send her running for cover. She’s hand-shy and flinches even when approached gently. Her tail wags excitedly when she’s spoken to in a soft, loving voice—but the moment a hand reaches out, her tail tucks between her legs. It’s clear she was deeply mistreated in the past, and the trauma still lingers.

A new harness and toy were brought home for her. The toy alone was enough to frighten her—she ran from it and hid. It’s been left outside now, waiting for her to decide when she’s ready. Sometimes, when no one’s watching, she acts like a normal, happy dog. In those quiet, unguarded moments, her true self peeks through.

Olive needs a calm, patient home—one that understands healing takes time. She’s not broken, but she has been hurt. What she needs most is someone who will celebrate the small victories, offer gentle reassurance, and give her the space to learn that people can be safe.

She may never be the boldest or most outgoing dog, but for the right person, she will be the most rewarding companion. Olive is ready to find her forever—wherever love, patience, and safety live.
